Criminological theories are often criticised as being out-dated or too narrow to apply to contemporary Australian society. Identify Psychological Positivism in its central focus, its explanation of the cause of crime, and its current relevance to the Australian Criminal Justice System (CJS).
In doing so, consider and examine the following aspects of Psychological Positivism:
– How the theory defines crime and its views as to the cause/s of crime.
– How the theory seeks to combat crime.
– How the theory influences the current Australian CJS; i.e. where this theories ideas are seen in the Australian CJS.
