English 101
: This is an essay exam, NOT a short answer exam. It needs to
be typed, 12-point font, and double-spaced. I want details and your best
writing. Each answer must be developed. This exam is due Thursday at
the beginning of class, along with your E & P notebook.
1. Knowledge: How would you describe Park and Eleanor& Park’s relationship? (Write at least one-half a page.)
2. Comprehension: How would you explain the beginning, middle and end
of the story? (Write one paragraph for each section.)
3. Application: Think of a problem that Eleanor has; now think of a problem Park has. Pick someone you know who has the same problem as Eleanor
OR Park and explain how that person’s problem is like Eleanor or Park’s problem. (Write at least one-half a page.)
4. Analysis: Compare and contrast Eleanor’s mother and Park’s mother. (What do they have in common? How are they different?) Now compare and contrast Eleanor’s father (biological or step-) and Park’s father. (What
do they have in common? How are they different?) (This should be a one-
page typed answer.)
5. Synthesis: If you had access to all the necessary resources, how would
you resolve Eleanor’s home situation? (This should be at least one-half a
page typed.)
6. Evaluation: Based on what you know, how would you explain Eleanor’s behavior toward Park after he drove her to her uncle’s house? Why was it
better that she distanced herself from him? Would it be better if Eleanor
had responded to him? Why or why not? (This question has four parts.
Answer each in one complete paragraph, which will probably take one page.)
